After a long day of sightseeing in piping hot Athens, you can extend you admiration of the city by grabbing a drink on the rooftop terrace, or better yet, staying overnight at the sleek 5-star St. George Lycabettus Lifestyle Hotel. Situated in the posh Kolonaki district and on the highest hill of the city, the award-winning hotel showcases absolutely stunning views of Athens, the Acropolis and all the way to seas. Fall in love with the panorama and style of this alluring luxury hotel below.
A Luxurious Modern Base Overlooking Amazing Athens
Few Athenian hotels are found in such a prominent position as the St. George Lycabettus Lifestyle Hotel, sitting high on the wooded slopes of Lycabettus Hill and gazing over the rooftops of the city and its world-class monuments. Just below the hotel is the stylish district of Kolonaki, home to chic boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. It’s also within easy reach of the main sites and several top museums, including the Cycladic Art Museum and the Benaki Museum, are a short walk away.
One of Athens’ Best Rooftop Terrace
Covered in glass, the hotel’s rooftop facilities and many of the hotel rooms feature phenomenal views, which led it to be awarded Best Rooftop View Hotel at World Luxury Hotel Awards 2017. Also open to non-guests the hotel’s two dining facilities, the La Suite Lounge and Le Grand Balcon restaurant, offer a direct vista of the Acropolis and as far as the sea and the Saronic Islands. Come for cocktail hour and the spectacular sunset and you might be tempted to stay for a lovely diner of refined Greek and international dishes, perfectly paired with wines from local Greek vineyards and a backdrop of the beautiful-lit Acropolis.
Luxurious Amenities & Original Flare
Guests are treated to a variety of excellent amenities and hotel personality. As you enter the attractive lobby you’ll see creative nods to Greek culture and history. This is carried over into the SG Gallery, which hosts temporary exhibits displaying the work of both local and foreign artists. If film is your art form of choice, check out the hotel’s 30-seat mini-cinema screening room.
If it’s some extra relaxing you’re seeking, look no further than the hotel’s rooftop with a gorgeous pool, verdant lounge area decked out in wildflowers and comfy seating. It’s also home to the Aegeos Spa where you can arrange some exquisite treatments, perhaps a couples’ massage under the canvas tent pavilion is called for? If you’re staying on a Monday you can enjoy a weekly BBQ or the month of September plays host to sunset yoga. Walking around Athens is a workout in itself, but for further muscle toning, make your way to the hotel’s well-equipped fitness space.
Stylish Rooms with Exceptional Views
Due to its privileged hilltop position, a great quantity of the hotel’s 154 guest rooms and 15 suites have panoramic views of the city. The ones that don’t, like the Courtyard Atrium Rooms, still have plenty of natural light thanks to large wall to wall windows. All rooms are stylishly decorated and have accents of color. We stayed in a lovely ECO Chic Rooms which have private balconies overlooking the city. These are well equipped with COCO-MAT natural sleep system bedding and white linens, satellite TV, airconditioning, a fully-stocked mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities, WIFI and luxurious bathrooms.
I have to admit, we were totally won over by the awe-inspiring views, but also the warm, extremely professional staff, delicious breakfast (with Greek delicacies) and perfect cool down pool. We almost didn’t want to leave for the islands! The St. George Lycabettus Lifestyle Hotel is a great option for a 5-star hotel in a real Athenian neighborhood and for reasonable prices considering the quality.
Rooms start at 108 euros by booking directly through the hotel. See full offers, rates and information on their website here.
