Experiencing The Grand Era of Regal Rajasthan

With three family mansions and palaces now converted into luxury heritage hotels, the Alsisar Hotels group is owned by a branch of the “Kachawa” clan of Rajputs. This is a sub-clan of Rajasthan’s Maharaja, popularly known as “Shekhawat,” which was founded five centuries ago by Maharao Shekhaji, a grandson of Maharaja Udaikaran of Amer and a distinguished warrior of his time. The Jaipur hotel is within an enchanting noble mansion built in 1892. Just over a century later, in 1994, decedents of the family transformed the building into an exquisite heritage hotel that maintains the grandeur of traditional local Rajput architecture and the family’s important history.

Enter into the mansions verdant complex, you instantly leave behind the boisterous streets of Jaipur. The central courtyard opens onto manicured gardens, a lovely tree-lined pool encircled by gazebos, cenotaphs and daybeds as well as a number of other relaxing lounge areas and sunny terraces. As you move through the interconnecting interior courtyards, you can stop to admire family portraits, vintage photographs and other historic images of Rajasthan which cover the walls of the common areas.

Elegant and Comfortable Rooms

This charming heritage style is carried over into the Alsisar Haveli’s 45 luxurious rooms. These feature romantic hand carved four-poster beds, textiles with medieval delicate motifs, writing desks, coffee-tea units, TVs, good WIFI, self controlled air-conditioning (much appreciated in hot Rajasthan!), and either a bath tub or showers. Since the rooms are set back in from the street they are generally very quiet. To have the complete princely experience, splurge on a maharaja suite.

In addition to their beautiful princely hotel within the city limits of Jaipur the family has converted two of their other residences intro hotels: the Nahargarh Ranthambhore and the stunning Alsisar Mahal in Shekhawati. The Nahargarh Ranthambhore, is set within the beautiful setting of the foot hills of ‘Aravali ranges’ in the neighboring Ranthambore National Park. Encircled by an impressive 16th-century style fortress, the Nahargarh follows the design of a traditional Rajput hunting palace and includes a sprawling “Char Bagh,” formal Mughal garden. It’s perfect for anyone seeking a tranquil luxury escape surrounded by spectacularly beautiful nature as well as a unique setting for a weddings and other events.

The Alsisar Mahal is equally exceptional. Situated in the hotel group’s namesake, a colorful town in the arid desert of Rajasthan, it is awn opulent 17th-century palace of this regal family.
