Treasures Hotel & Suites in Melaka, Malaysia’s Hottest New Boutique Hotel

The historic town of Melaka is high on many travelers’ lists of places to visit in Malaysia, and with good reason. The oldest city in the country has many interesting and delightful sites, but after a long day of sightseeing there’s nothing quite like escaping to a beautiful oasis and that’s just what you’ll find at the newest opening on the Melaka’s luxury boutique hotel scene, Treasures Hotel & Suites. This sublime brand new hotel has the perfect blend of Malaysian traditions and 21st century aesthetics all the while being a mere stone’s throw from Melaka’s top sites. I had the pleasure of discovering the hotel just when it opened, take a tour with me below!

Stylish, Eco-friendly & Contemporary Decor

Found next to Little India and a short walk to many of the city’s main attractions, the hotel’s location provides guests a convenient location without being overwhelmed with the groups of tourists swarming a few blocks away. The hotel has sought to create a fusion of the local traditional Peranakan house layout with natural, rainforest-like colours. Peranakan houses generally feature greens, dark blues and oranges, which make up the hotel’s prominent palette.

A fresh and airy ambiance prevails throughout thanks to large spaces, vast windows and chic design elements. These include custom-made furniture created with recycled wood from the building itself but also well-matched recycled wood from Bali and China. This repurposed colorful wood is an underlying theme throughout the hotel, primarily in its gorgeous tables, chairs and mirrors. The foyer also has some wooden beams rescued from old shophouses in the city centre. This eco-friendly ambiance is complemented by lush greenery and other tropical plants.

Exquisite Facilities

In addition to the hotel’s attractive decor, it has some exquisite luxury facilities adapted to today’s traveler. The spacious courtyard is home to the hotel’s café which will serve mainly local dishes, but an all-day breakfast dishes should appear on the menu soon. Guests can also enjoy healthy and reasonably priced slow-pressed juices and a wide range of other non-alcohol and alcohol drinks.
The hotel’s treasured facility is located up on the roof: its incredible infinity pool. Uniquely designed to hug the corner of the building overlooking trees and part of the city, it’s 20 m long, almost half the size of an Olympic pool. After your refreshing swim, you can relax and watch the sunset from one of the comfortable loungers on the terrace. A playroom for kids is also in the works.

Luxurious Rooms & Suites

The hotel has 30 rooms divided into seven categories, including several family rooms and two suites. All rooms have divine top quality beds, the size varying depending on which room you choose, but even the twins are “super twins.” The large rooms (ranging from 25-65 m2) are illuminated via huge windows and have dark hard wood floors, lighter wooden furniture and zen-inspired art in keeping with the hotel’s natural approach. The bathrooms are a real treat with heavenly rain showers and/or tubs. The rooms are also equipped with flat screen TVs, a minibar and complimentary coffee and tea facilities.

The hotel is truly a one-of-a-kind in Melaka and provides a unique, cool accommodation, the best match for contemporary travelers looking for a stylish, modern design paired with luxury comforts. I highly recommend it and hope to go back!

Room rates start from RM268 but vary in relation to the date and booking period. Learn more about and book on the hotel’s website here.

I was a guest of the Treasures Hotel & Suites, however, all of the opinions above are entirely my own.
