A Sensorial Luxury Retreat Encircled by Nature

Lost in Sensations is nestled within a magical pine grove and surrounded by undulating countryside near the authentic village of Marcenais, just 30 minutes north of Bordeaux. Time stops when you arrive at Lost In Sensation and guests have entered a unique space dedicated to enlivening the senses.

An Ambiance that Awakens the Senses

For years the hotel’s owner, Franco-Brazilian designer Naf Pinto Duraes, has been collecting unique design items and furniture for the property. She scoured flea markets, antique shops, and design stores to find the pieces that achieve her immersive mission which she has brought together beautifully. Each of the common areas is dedicated to a different “sense”. The chic yet cozy shared dining room/fireplace lounge evokes taste, a glam-rock party room that of sound, and a relaxing outdoor wellness area that of touch. These senses are cleverly through cheeky seats, vases in the shape of hands, gorgeous masks and other design items, furnishings and ambiance.

Individual and Imaginative Accommodation

Guests can choose between several different accommodation options among three separate units and three suites, all of which are completely unique spaces and individually decorated. The “Space Odyssey” bubble tents have a retro, futuristic feel and allow you to sleep under the stars or be transported to another galaxy. The “Out of Africa” lodge transports you to the plains of Africa and embodies a blissful peacefulness – with a wild side. The large yurt is perfect for families or a group of friends. Each of these has its own private garden, terrace and outdoor Jacuzzi.

Stylish Thematic Suites

The three suites are located in a historic “mas” farm building and have a shared garden with various sitting areas and a Jacuzzi. Within this collection are cozy Paris-styled “Garconière” suite, the Great Gatsby Suite takes you back to the roaring 1920s and the Riviera suite evokes the south of France with a mid-century spirit.

A Custom-Designed Individual Experience

All guests have access to a shared heated pool and a fabulous sauna within a huge repurposed wine barrel. Guests can order gourmet food and beverages and a copious breakfast of high-quality ingredients and products is included.

Naf offers each guest a customized experience, which is a real advantage and sets Lost In Sensations apart from most other hotels. Guests can choose when and where to have their meals. These can be enjoyed in their private indoor or outdoor areas, in the common dining room, or even in a secret spot in the woods.

She can also arrange a wide array of additional services including bespoke wine itineraries, private outdoor concerts, vintage car rentals to tour the area (a lot of fun!), and healing massage or sound treatments.  She works with an impressive group of hand-selected local experts and, from my own personal experience, the massage treatments she offers are superb and the perfect way to really enhance the “recharging” experience of your stay in this heavenly location.

During your stay, you can also simply relax in the sauna, take a dip in the pool, chill at a fire pit, or enjoy the sunset with a glass of Cremant de Bordeaux bubbly wine. The experience is so enchanting and relaxing — you won’t want to leave! But you can always come back and try another room the next time.

Rooms start at around 200 euros/night. See the Lost in Sensations website for further details and to book directly.
