La France en Confitures
I liked the Paris Shopping site so much that I’ve also included one of their gourmet products and for two reasons: I think gastronomic items made great gifts and most Parisian food boutiques only ship within Europe… so it can be hard to get French food goodies set abroad. Taste your way around France with this box set of six jams from the four corners of France (okay six corners). From French jam specialists La Chambre aux Confitures (they have a handful of shops around Paris), the box set includes a jar of Royal Raspberry, Mirabelle & Quetsche, Mara Wood Strawberry, Apricot & Lavender, Truffle Onion & Pomerol and lastly Apple & Salted Caramel. The set costs €36.00, see it and other gastronomic products featured on the site here.
Le Cadeau Francais Gift Boxes
The perfect gift for the ultimate fan of France could be one of these thematic Le Cadeau Francais gift boxes, comprised of a careful selection of “Made in France” goodies. Created in 2015 by French entrepreneur Alfred de Louvencourt ( I sense a little romance in his name!), these unique gift ideas come in a range themes and sizes. For example, the gourmet line includes the “Paris est un Fete” (the French translation of Hemingway’s Moveable Feast) made up of macarons, Christmas tea and an Eiffel Tower tea-infuser as well as several different sized Provence and champagne boxes. For the holidays they’ve launched two special festive-themed gift boxes “For Her” or “For Him” kits, which will certainly thrill your Francophile. What’s more, the company gives back to the community, teaming up with the E.S.AT. (Etablissement et Service d’Aide par la Travail) to have the gift boxes assembled by employees with handicaps. See their complete line here.
New Paris Prints & Mugs
Talented photographer and blogger Rebecca Plotnick is ever expanding on her amazing collection of Paris prints. Up to now they have been of her stunning Paris photographs, however, she’s just come out with a brand new collection using text, including the lovely Paris Street print, which was inspired by her favorite Paris streets and some shared from her followers, making it a special memory piece for anyone who likes strolling the city’s gorgeous streets. I’m also quite fond of her new I Wish I was in Paris Mug. It’s a nice way to have a little sip of Paris everyday, just like her blog Every Day Paris which I’ve written for a few times. Rebecca is offering a Black Friday special discount of -20% from Friday to next Tuesday, only on orders of her prints, however, it’s a great occasion to do some holiday shopping … or your own home decorating! Use the code HOLIDAY20 through her photography shop.
Amour-Chance-Bonheur Made in French Jewelry
NOTE: Iseline has since closed. If it’s a special jewelry item you think your parisienne chérie would like, I picked out these from Iseline, stylish gold-plated and silver jewelry by Finnish designer Mats Haglund and made in an atelier in Paris. I thought this lovely token collection fit our theme perfectly, the bracelet, earrings or necklace each engraved with Amour-Bonheur-Chance (Love-Happiness-Luck). There are many other hip pieces as well. The jewelry itself is very affordable, ranging from 15€ to 100€, but if you’re doing some Black Friday shopping, you can make some extra savings as Iseline is offering my readers a 10% discount from Friday Nov 24th through Sunday Nov 26th midnight EST! All you need to do is put in the code je taime me neither when ordering. See their full collection at this link.
Festive Flavors of France’s Top Mustard
For someone who would like to add a dash of France to their daily life, nothing beats the King of French mustards. Maille has done some clever expansion with several region websites allowing for international deliveries. For example, there is a UK site and the US site delivers across the States and Canada. They have an excellent holiday collection of festive inspired mustards and oils available in attractive gift boxes. For example, the above option features two gourmet Dijon mustards, black truffle and blackcurrant liquor, and goes for $23. See all their holiday gift ideas here.
L’Apart, Latest Book by David Lebovitz
Speaking of France’s culinary arts… superstar food blogger and pastry chef David Lebovitz is back with more adventures — and misadventures — of living in France: L’Appart: The Delights and Disasters of Making My Paris Home. Hot off the press, the title of his new book speaks for itself. This time David attempts to hack his way through the maze of red tape involved in not only officially residing in France, but then buying and renovating an apartment…. yikes! A daunting task that would take more than a fabulous Sabatier chef’s knife to cut through. David achieves this with his characteristic wit and keeps readers hungry for more with renovation inspired recipes throughout. His book … and those below… might not have you rushing to move to France, but definitely will have you living vicariously through the writers.
Other Newish Favorite Paris Books!
I couldn’t finish up this post without mentioning a few of my other books which have come out in the next year or so…. including mine 🙂 I also have two other book buddies whose books would make great holiday gifts for a Francophile. Along a similar vein to David’s book above, but with the particularly personal angle of grieving the loss of her mother, Lisa Anselmo’s My Part-Time Paris chronicles this New Yorker’s decision to spend more time in Paris and, along with it, the ups and downs of buying an apartment and building a new life for herself here. Whereas in Pancakes in Paris discover the memoirs of Craig Carlson, founder of the well-known Paris diners Breakfast in America, and the harrowing trials and tribulations of setting up his business in France.
In addition to these great books, if you have a sassy Paris lover who might like to know what it’s really like to look for romance in the supposed city of love, consider offering her a copy of one of my books, the first one Je T’Aime, Me Neither or the newer Je T’Aime… Maybe (or why not both!). Plus, I’m doing a Black Friday sale on my books, which you can benefit from on Amazon with a 25% discount from Friday Nov 24th through Sunday Nov 26th midnight EST or order directly through me on those days and get two books for the price of one! You can buy them here with two shipping options (Europe and International), I can even wrap, write a personalized dedication and send the package directly to your giftee.
