Best Bars for Singles in Paris

Le Petit Village Batignolles

Even though it’s a big city, it can be hard to find places to meet people in Paris. Out and about is still one of my preferred ways to connect with possible love interests, not all Paris bars are best for mingling either fellow singles. Below is an extensive list of best singles bars in Paris, social, fun or stylish, where you just might meet your next chéri/e!

Young, Wild, Free… & Penniless

Mauri 7 – Located across the street from Chez Jeannette (below), this bar tends to attract a younger, lively crowd that spills out onto the street. Cheap drinks and conversations with strangers are flowing steadily.

46 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, 75010 Paris

Bonne Nouvelle – As you can guess by its name, this bar is situated virtually at the footstep of Blvd and métro station Bonne Nouvelle. The real “bonne nouvelle” is that this old-school style bar has cheap prices and a friendly, mostly 25 to early 30s clientele.

4, rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, 75010 Paris

Le Petit Village – The spirit of the little village of Les Batignolles lives on, at night that is, at this friendly neighborhood hangout. Share a few cheap pints or some homemade punch with the area’s young hip crowd, which can be found spilling out onto the street in front of the casual bar most nights, but especially on weekends, when guest DJs turn the fun meter up a few notches.

58 rue La Condamine, 75017 Paris

Le Point Ephemère – Cool, cheap bar and concert venue on the Canal Saint Martin. I’ve been chatted up several times here including the brushing past story from above.

200 Quai de Valmy, 75010 Paris

Laid-back Hip

The Chope de Château Rouge – Young people aren’t the only people looking for reasonably priced drinks and you’ll find a range of ages at styles at this dive bar which was once simply a local watering hole and now attracts a slightly hip crowd.

40 Rue de Clignancourt, 75018 Paris

Le Mansart – Filled with a mostly young, bustling hipster crowd, this cool SoPi bar is a great place to socialize and chat up cute strangers.

1 Rue Mansart, 75009 Paris

Chez Jeannette – Similar crowd to the Mansart, but a little less space inside, hang out among the loiterers/smokers outside to be able to chat.

47 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, 75010 Paris

Aux Folies – Akin to La Fourmi, but even more local, this used to be a complete bar du quartier, a neighborhood bar, which has been “discovered” by a younger, cooler crowd. A quirky ambience, lots of outdoor seating or open space for mingling inside.

8 Rue de Belleville, 75020 Paris

La Fourmi This grungy bar has a busy mix of ages having a beer or pichet de vin, a laid back atmosphere, the seating and space around the bar allows for good flirting.

74 Rue des Martyrs, 75018 Paris

Le Rendez-vous des Amis – You’d never guess you were just underneath Place de Tetre and touristy Montmartre at this local dive, As the name insinuates, here you’re among friends, you can rub shoulders with today’s cute, young starving artists.

 23 Rue Gabrielle, 75018 Paris

Lively, Standing & Some Music

Cafe Chérie – With its large terrace, ample standing room in the interior and dancing till 3am-ish on weekends, this is an ideal location for flirting.

44 Boulevard de la Villette, 75019 Paris

Ground Control  – Located in former train buildings next to the Gare de Lyon, this sprawling complex has plenty of flirting opportunities, especially when the weather is nice and people are hanging out outside in their various trains and buses.

81 Rue du Charolais, 75012 Paris

Le Pop In – I used to go to this bar/cool music venue a lot in the 20s when I lived down the street. The downstairs live music area is where you’ll likely be able to do some flirting.

105 Rue Amelot, 75011 Paris

Rosa Bonheur – Whether you go to their large branch in the Buttes Chaumont Park or their one down by the Seine, you’re well positioned to meet new people. Enjoy the shoulder rubbing!

Route de la Cascade, 75019 Paris / Pont Alexandre III – Rive Gauche 75007 Paris

Le Petit Bain – this is a good option for socializing amidst a slightly older (yet not exclusively) crowd. The upstairs terrace is good for chatting. In summer this expands onto the quai. There is also a concert venue within the boat where you can carry on your night.

7 Port de la Gare, 75013 Paris

Cool Cocktail Lovers

Dirty Dick – This funky Tiki bar is the most social of the cool cocktail joints that now occupy the former escort girl bars on rue Frochet. Stand around the bar to mingle with a both French and international crowd.

10 rue Frochet, 75009 Paris

Tiger – The only gin focused bar in Paris is also located on lively rue Princesse. Great drinks, the decor is contemporary chic, there’s often a DJ livening up the ambiance which tumbles outside.

13, rue Princesse Paris 75006

Sunset – One of my coup de coeur, this hip yet unpretentious bar in the 18th has a great vibe and the best quality-price ratio for cocktails in the city. Sit at the bar and you’ll easily strike up some conversations.

100 rue Ordonner, 75018 Paris

Little Red Door – This speakeasy style bar hidden in the Marais has excellent cocktails and a bustling vibe especially on weekends.

60 rue Charlot, 75003 Paris

Le Syndicat – If you can find this bar on up and coming rue de Faubourg Saint-Denis, you’re already off to a good start. Laid back yet trendy on the weekend it usually gets buzzing. If not you can always head down the street to Chez Jeannette or Mauri 7.

On the Chic Side

Le Carmen – The former home of composer Georges Bizet, this posh bar is strict on whom it lets in, however, if you can get past the bouncer, you’ll be schmoozing with the chic night owls of SoPi in a gorgeous ambiance.

34 Rue Duperré, 75009 Paris

Le Balcon – The reinvented mezzanine bar of the Alcazar is a good option for meeting classierdate prospects. It’s good for apéro or a drink later in the night.

62 Rue Mazarine, 75006 Paris

Wanderlust – This rooftop club atop the Cité de la Mode et du Design attracts a decidedly younger, chic crowd grooving to top DJs overlooking the Seine.

 32 Quai d’Austerlitz, 75013 Paris

Faust – You would never think hanging out “under a bridge” could be chic, however, this venue under Pont Alexandre III the has helped bring new energy to the nightlife options of the Left Bank. It’s both good for hobnobbing over a drink on their terrace and late night dancing on weekends.

Late Night, Music & Dancing

Bus Palladium – This legendary nightlife institution saw a new look and vibe almost 10 years ago which helped put SoPi on the map. Upstairs on Friday and Saturdays is where the best flirting happens.

 6 Rue Pierre Fontaine, 75009

L’ International

 – a super fun bar/music venue, expect to find a rather youthful crowd of fun parties drinking cheap pints and heating up the dance floor.

La Baraque

This is a lively all in one evening spot on buzzing rue de Charonne. Start with drinks or dinner upstairs before heading downstairs to bust a rug with fun locals.

102, rue de Charonne 75011 Paris

Le Café de la Presse

This large-is venue south of la Bastille heard up on weekends with attractive trendy types and a lively vibe.

36 bd de la Bastille, 75012 Paris

La Bellevilloise

A multifunction venue, this bar/restaurant/concert hall has an eclectic range of events which attract the laid back hip of the northeast of Paris.

19-21 rue Boyer, 75020
